Memorial Chair ignites passion for reading

A memorial reading chair has been created in honour of a staff member who unexpectedly passed away in December 2020.

Sarah-Jane L'Esteve, taught Reception and Year 1 (Diamond Class) and was a member of Christ Church for 12 years. Affectionately known to her colleagues as 'S-J', the news of her passing devastated our community.

To honour her memory, we were keen to have something at school that the pupils and staff could enjoy as well as remember S.J. Mrs L'Esteve actively promoted the love of reading in her classroom. We therefore thought it would be a fitting tribute to have a reading chair for all to appreciate.

This week the chair arrived and Little Diamonds have been the first to take delight in reading a story in 'the special chair'.

Christ Church would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Viner's partner Luke who spent his spare time creating the chair.
